Why this concept is important?
If you know about in game currency, you might have heard of retention bonuses. In online gaming, people need something that will increase with the hours of play. I see this pet concept as great way to archive the retention. They have given you a living creature that will grow and will stay with you forever. You can use your food (you get food by playing games) either on feeding an owned pet or to buy a new one. You can own multiple pets and you have to make sure that your pet suites your playing style and your champion.
Pet concept vs League of legends summoner spells
If someone asked me “what is the closest thing in the league of legends?” I have to say that this is a fresh and new concept to online RTS games. Said that, this is similar to the concept of summoner spells in LOL. You can have better powers as you level up. You might argue that this is similar to the leveling in the LOL. I cannot deny that but I think they have hero level that more or less represents the LOL level.
How to choose the pet that will suit you
First, you need to understand your playing style (what makes you happy; it is your playing style). For me I want to be in the middle of the fight doing good amount of damage. Therefore, I choose a fighter. After selecting a hero, it is time to select the pet. As an example a tank (Bastion, Bo) or fighter (Ace, Shank) will need survivability so Tortus, Topps, Pincer will be a good choices. For a Marksman I would suggest Razer or Bounder it will help you to do damage as well as escape (as you are fragile). For Mage I would suggest Mystik (for mana) and for support you can go for Mystik or Luster (gold).
