Riot is trying positive reinforcement techniques in addition to the negative reinforcement techniques like chat restriction, ranked restriction, 14-day ban, or permanent ban. I recently got my gift too (Zombie Ryze).
What are the criteria you need to satisfy to get a gift?
Quoting RIOT,
If you haven’t received a chat restriction, ranked restriction, 14-day ban, or permanent ban in 2014, and you meet the requirements to receive a Mystery Gift (you’re Level 5 or higher and there are at least 10 skins you don’t own), you’re on our list!
If you have not made in to the nice list this time, do not worry. If you can be nice from this time, until the next mystery-gifting period you will be able to get a gift next time.
Positive vs. Negative Reinforcement: Which Is More Effective?
I think in long run positive reinforcement is better. If you permanent ban a player, he returns to the game as raged as never before. Negative reinforcement makes the game more tensed and serious. For me all I need is entertainment.
I found this example from a web site, which I have mentioned below,
Imagine that you were fined $50 for every spoonful of ice cream that you ate. You probably do not have to spend any time researching to know that you would very quickly stop eating ice cream. However, here is where things get interesting: If you were continually penalized for eating ice cream, the negative reinforcement would eventually stop working.
You would become resentful of the constant punishment. Maybe you would switch to cookies. Long term, negative reinforcement does not get the job done — and that is where we bring back positive reinforcement.
If you allowed the new routine to take place, and you replaced the ice cream with berries successfully for a week, rewarding yourself with a small amount of ice cream on the last day will actually aid in maintaining that habit.
Negative gets you started. Positive keeps you going.
Thanks RIOT
I like to thank riot for this good initiation to make a better community and for the mystery gift I got.
